Strengths

  • Ball skills jump off the tape immediately. Five picks in ten games at USC, with three coming inside the red zone where windows shrink and timing matters most.
  • Quarterback background translates directly to his coverage instincts. Reads routes before they develop and anticipates throws like he's still calling plays from under center.
  • Elite timed speed shows up in game situations. HIs 4.4 forty allows him to close on throws that look safe off the quarterback's hand.
  • Zone coverage ability is absurd. Patrols the deep middle with rare awareness and makes receivers uncomfortable running crossers through his airspace.
  • Film study habits border on obsessive. That pick against Purdue came because he recognized the red zone concept from his weekly breakdown and baited the throw perfectly.
  • Scheme versatility proved out immediately at USC. Learned D'Anton Lynn's system in one offseason after running a completely different defense at NC State without any visible adjustment period.
  • Turnover production follows him everywhere. Six interceptions at Coffeyville, five at NC State across two years, five at USC in one season. The ball finds him.
  • Competitive temperament shows up in tight windows. Willingness to play physical at the catch point and contest 50-50 balls rather than playing it safe for position.

Areas to Improve

  • Height limitations are real. At 5-11, he loses some leverage battles against bigger slot receivers and tight ends who can box him out at the high point.
  • Run defense skills lag behind his coverage ability. Takes some questionable angles to the ball carrier and gets washed out occasionally by lead blockers.
  • Sample size at one school remains small. Just ten games at USC before injury, which makes it harder to evaluate how his game holds up across a full Power Four season.
  • May need to add functional mass to survive the physical toll of NFL receivers and tight ends week after week.
  • Late season knee injury clouds medical evaluation. Missed the final two regular season games and his availability for bowl season remains uncertain heading into the pre-draft process.
